Misuse of Enterprise

Misuse of Enterprise

I have posted a selection of comments on the original post I reproduced from Memebase.com. Maybe it’s not true, but it’s certainly plausible. WMDs in Iraq were a similar excuse for war. USA has a long history of similar policy decisions overseas.

Back to reading my Dickens now.

Believe what you want. I’ve worked with these ships and you’re absolutly right. There’s probably nothing we couldn’t accomplish. But something like this is so far removed from our goal and purpose it defies reason and is just plain dumb to sit and think about.

Why would we want to do something like this, which would ultimately end up costing us waaaay more on clean-up AND the actual cost of invading a country, rather than just decommission the ship like many ships before her? It doesn’t make any sense. And being in the Navy, working directly with these kinds of ships, being in close communication with the people on THAT ship in particular, I think I know a little more than the average individual does.

Oh, and in case you didn’t know, the USS Maddox WAS in naval combat with North Vietnamese torpedo boats during the Gulf on Tonkin Incident. The ship sustained no damage worth mentioning. And even if it had and sunk, that’s hardly a 1000+ ft carrier. It takes quite a bit to sink a US Navy vessle. See: USS Cole. It would be significantly more trouble than it’s worth to sink a ship the size of a carrier on purpose anyway.

To EM3 Shafer: ^THIS is what I meant. Your country (the USA) spends so much money on its military that it alone accounts for more than 50% of the world’s military expenses, while also invading smaller countries left and right because they’re being ruled by “terrorists” who obviously shouldn’t be allowed to have a single nuke, and that would’ve been fine if it wasn’t for the fact that you yanks keep on electing crazy presidents yourselves.

Take Dubya for an example: You put a dark age crusader in charge of the world’s largest collection of nukes and armed personnel and he abused it to invade sand monkey countries with WWII technology (that is, not a threat what so ever), while justifying it by portraying them as a threat to western civlization and liberty. Meanwhile, he (as well as OUR European leaders, whose tongues are far up your presidents’ @sses) took quite great steps to ACTUALLY restrict our liberty. The valiant crusader suddenly became worse than the barbarians they set out to fight.

The fact that you (western military personnel) are not just standing guard, but actively seeking conflicts where none is needed is essentially what pisses me off. I do realize that you’re just doing your job, but your defense of your country’s military policies shows that you haven’t really thought this through: you cannot see that the REAL threat is domestic.

Well, the White House has just declare it’s legal for the president to declare anyone on the planet as a “enemy terrorist” and order to wipe them with a drone missile strike, and for the US government to seize and make use of, well, about anything they want if “necessary to respond to an emergency”, basically establishing martial law in peace time, so what’s the surprise?

Check those executive orders (National Defense Authorization Act and National Defense Resources Preparedness) if you don’t believe.

Well, so far for your “Land of the Free” fairy tale, gentlemens…

Greetings. I am the creator and poster, and I am confused about your reaction. I was not aware that we were trying to keep this conspiracy theory secret from Iran. Are you mad at me for posting this because the Iranians can see it? What is your intent? On the other hand, what could Iran possibly do to stop this?! They can’t.

Anyone who actually believes that Iran, Jordan, Israel etc…DON’T have nuclear weapons already is a moron. Especially given that it is common knowledge in all of those countries that they have them already and have done for a loooooooooooooong time. Why the US is making a big dealio out of it now is beyond me. Well it’s not really. It’s the same reason why they felt the need to go to war every other time and it is boring now.

People need to stop reading the poop in the media and actually start talking to people who live in those countries. This is the age of the internet. Use it.
